The aim of these walks is to reach the Lui d’Août gîte, situated at an altitude of 1953 metres in a magnificent mountain setting between the Seya and the Grand Château. There are 3 routes to the gîte: two via Ovronnaz and one via Fully.
The Lui d’Août gîte is manned from mid-June to mid-September, as well as on weekends in October. It offers 35 overnight places, with showers and on-site catering.
Route from Jorasse chairlift (Ovronnaz)

Easy
- From the village or resort of Ovronnaz, head for the ski lift car park. Park your car there and take the chairlift to the top of Jorasse.
- From the top of the cable car, turn left and follow the signs to La Lui d’Août.

- From the Ovronnaz sports centre, you can continue up through the forest on a path towards Odonne. This hamlet lies at an altitude of around 1800 metres. The path can be steep in places, but it is well signposted.
- After Odonne, continue up the marked path. The path becomes more alpine as you gradually climb towards the Lui d’Août hut, which is at around 1950 metres altitude.
- The landscape becomes more open as you approach the hut, offering beautiful views of the surrounding mountains.
- Once at the hut, enjoy the panorama. It’s a popular spot for hikers, thanks to its tranquillity and the beauty of its Alpine setting.
Route from Erié (Fully)

- From Fully, drive up to the Erié car park; during the summer, a shuttle bus service is organised by Fully tourisme.
- From Erié, follow the signposted path towards the Col du Fenestral. The path climbs gradually through alpine pastures and becomes steeper as you approach the pass.
- Arrive at the Col du Fenestral (2455 m): this pass offers an impressive panoramic view of the surrounding mountains, in particular the Grand Chavalard.
- From Fenestral, you will begin a gradual descent towards La Lui d’Août. Head in the direction of Petit Pré, then follow the signs for the marked trails.
