What equipment does the via ferrata kit contain?
The kit contains a helmet, a harness and a lanyard with two carabiners. We do not hire out the equipment separately.
What size should I choose according to my height and weight?
You need to weigh at least 40kg to use these kits. We recommend that you are 1.55m tall to ensure easy access to the holds.
We offer three sizes of harness for hire:
– Size S: from 1m55
– Size M-L: up to 1m75
– Size XL: from 1m80
Depending on your hip size, the harness size may vary (go bigger or smaller). You can try on the different sizes on site.
What is the minimum age to hire a via ferrata kit in Saillon?
We hire kits to people aged 16 or over. Minors must be at least 1m55 tall and be accompanied by an adult.
Can I use this equipment on another via ferrata?
No, the equipment hired by the Saillon Tourist Office may only be used on the Via Farinetta.
How difficult is the via Farinetta?
The via Farinetta is a via ferrata rated from “fairly difficult” to “very difficult”. It is therefore advisable to have already practised other via ferratas, or to have done some climbing, before embarking on it. The third part is reserved for experienced climbers.
How long does the route take?
You should allow 20 minutes to reach the start of the via Farinetta from the Salentze bridge. The route is then divided into three parts:
– Part 1: level: 1h- 1h30.
– Part 2: level: 1h- 1h30.
– Part 3: level := 30 – 45 minutes.
It takes an hour to descend from the top of the via Farinetta (after the third part) back down to Place Farinet, and another 10 minutes to the car park at Les Bains.
Is there a cancellation deadline or charge?
You can cancel your booking up to three hours before the start of the activity. If no excuse is given, an administration fee of 10% of the reservation amount may be applied.
